Bilic Has No Complaints

Disappointed Croatia manager Slaven Bilic had no complaints after the dramatic penalty shoot-out against Turkey that ended his side's Euro 2008 adventure.

Come-back kings Turkey did it, again despite Croatia having had the better of the 90 minutes and then taking the lead 90 seconds from the end of extra-time. Turkey equalised through Semih Senturk with the last kick of open play, then converted all of their penalties while Croatia missed two and had their third saved by Recber Rustu, the veteran Turkish keeper whose error of judgement had gifted Croatia their goal through substitute Ivan Klasnic.

But despite enduring a roller-coaster of emotions in that dramatic finale, Croatian coach Slaven Bilic said he could not fault any of his players, whom he described as heroes.

Bilic praised their efforts, saying: “I want to congratulate both teams for a great game of football.”

“This match shows why it's the most dramatic and most popular game in the world.”

“My players put in a heroic performance and I can have no complaints about any of them.”

“Penalties are a lottery and the players felt confident enough to take the spot-kicks.”

 

I just love that man more and more everyday, period.
